Next Steps

1. Fill out the participant registration form.

Before you finish the QSP/QSD training class, we need you to fill out our participant registration form. This will give us the information we need to sign you up for the Office of Water Programs QSP/QSD certificate exams. We will never use or share this information with anyone except the Office of Water Programs. For more information, please see our privacy policy.

2. Take and pass the QSP/QSD Exam.

After you’ve taken the training class, go to the Office of Water Programs website, and take the QSP/QSD Exam. You’ll log in using the information you submitted to us in Step 1. As a reminder, you are allowed two attempts to pass the exam. After that, you’ll need to take the QSP/QSD training course again. But – WGR always allows alumni to re-take the class for free. Just send us an email.

3. Complete underlying certification.

While you don’t need underlying certification to take the class or pass the exam, you will need an underlying certification to become QSP or QSD certified.

Certain California licensed individuals, such as a Civil Professional Engineer, Professional Geologist, or Landscape Architect already meet the underlying certification requirements and may use their license number to register as a QSP/QSD.

Those individuals who are not a California licensed individual will need to obtain a third-party storm water certification from one of the following entities:
